ECOLOGICAL ADVENTURE IN
NORTHWESTERN ARGENTINA!
Mesopotamia is an exotic region of the world, with many
waterways that are home to very unique flora and fauna. We will introduce you to
the region on horseback and by boat, beginning with the world-renowned
Estancias, where cattle-raising is still a way of life. You will visit “Ibera
Marshes,” one of the largest marshes of the world, enjoying the diversity of
flora and fauna in their natural habitat. Our journey will end in Misiones, with
a visit to the breathtaking Iguaçu Falls.
Day
01:
Arrival in Buenos Aires International Airport and transfer to local airport.
Flight to Santa Fe Province and transfer by Car to Estancia
La Rosita (320 km), where you can rest in the evening or join us for a moonlight
ride on horseback.
Dinner: Argentine-style BBQ (outdoors)
Day 02: Estancia

Enjoy your day at leisure in this 120 year old hacienda.
Activities: hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding,
helping in ranch chores, learn the basics of polo
Day 03: (Lodging in
Estancia San Juan Poriahu)
Early in the morning we will begin our tour in 4x4 vehicles
to Ibera Marshes, at the heart of Mesopotamia. We drive through 400 km of
unspoiled nature until we get to our next stop, a colonial ranch of the Jesuit
Missions dating back to 1638, and housing a herd of 240 horses.
We enjoy lunch and a rest at the ranch and then go on a boat
journey through the marshes. The group will be accompanied by wild life experts
(2 hrs):
Ibera marshes are an old ditch of the Parana River, now a
shallow depression full of water. It is conformed by a few floating islands that
move with the force of strong winds, taking along all the flora and fauna
afloat. Within the ranch limits there are 245 different species of birds, and in
the marshes there are over 80 variety of fish. Among other animals living in the
marshes, we find the biggest heron in South America, 2 species of caymans,
carpinchos (world’s largest rodent). Ibera is also shelter to the river wolf and
a variety of deer.
In the evening we will have another excursion into the
marshes to enjoy the sights and sounds of the wildlife at night.
Day 04:
Option 01.
Today it is a day
to experience the life of the peon or gaucho, the Argentine version of
the American cowboy:
Learn to roundup
cattle on horseback , participate in the estancia’s daily activities.
Option 02:
In the morning we will be riding horses in the marshes, but this time from the
coastline and along wild forests. It is possible to spot monkeys and marsh deer.
Transfer From San Juan Poriahu to Iguazu Falls:
In the afternoon we leave Ibera behind and drive to the
province of Misiones, characterized by its hills and red-colored soil. On the
way, we drive through plantations of Yerba Mate and we will also go to San
Ignacio’s ruins, an antique construction designed by the Jesuits and built by
the Guarans (natives from the region) over 400 years ago.

Day 05: Iguazu
Falls: Green Path, train ride to the Waterfalls station, upper
circuit, lower circuit. We suggest you also take the Green Passport ticket that
includes sailing along the Parana River, jungle drive in, and nautical
adventure.
Weather: Expected
rain at any time, but overall rainfall is moderate at 1200mm annually.
Thunderstorms are common.
Day 06:
We drive to the nearest airport for transfer to
Buenos Aires. Rest of the day at leisure in Argentina’s capital. Lodging: Hotel
Ulises (studio apartments) in the upscale Recoleta district.
Day 07:
Return to USA (airport transfer not included)
