ARGENTINA GAUCHO JOURNEY               

Spend a memorable week in the romantic landscape of rural Argentina! 

Enjoy life at 100 year old Spanish-style Haciendas and learn the way of the Argentine cowboy (the "gaucho"):  milk cows in the mornings, learn the basics of how to work with cattle, trail ride as little or as much as you'd like each day, lounge by the pool, enjoy wonderful outdoor BBQs under the stars, learn to play Polo, fish in nearby rivers, or hike/cross-country bike in the surrounding woods.  Extension tours:  Buenos Aires, Iguazu Falls, Tierra del Fuego (& other destinations).

The Tropero Trail Ride is moderate in effort, stressing a fun and exciting pace that accommodates both novice and more experienced riders. More seasoned riders can opt for a more strenuous riding schedule, while beginners may request a slower-paced itinerary.  A 4-wheel drive vehical is always available as an option for the comfort of our guests. Relax by the pool

Tropero Trail Ride Itinerary:                   

Day 1:  Arrival in Buenos Aires and transfer to ‘La Rosita’ farm in the province of Corrientes (short flight or overnight sleeper bus ride).

Day 2: Get acquainted with your Argentina hosts, your wranglers and the horses.  Short trail ride in late afternoon/early evening.  Moonlight rides are also available (depending on moon cycle) Click here for info on Corrientes

Day 3:    Start of the Great ‘Los Troperos’ horseback riding, from ‘La Rosita’ farm to ‘La Amistad’ farm. This is a 5-hr. ride, with a picnic style lunch on the way to the farm.

 Accommodations and dinner at ‘La Amistad” farm.   Massage/acupuncture session included 

Day 4:  Second part of the journey, from ‘La Amistad”’ to  ‘Buena Vista’ farm. Duration 5 hrs. (3 hrs. in the morning and 2 hrs. in the afternoon).

You will enjoy a picnic lunch and a rest at noon. Accommodation and dinner at ‘Buena Vista’ farm.

Day 5:  Leaving very early to 'La Teresita’ farm. Duration 6.5 hrs. (3 hrs. in the morning and 3.5 hrs. in the afternoon).  We will serve lunch in a typical  roadside farmhouse: “Boliche de Campo” or  Pulperia.

Accommodation and dinner at ‘La Teresita’ farm.      

Day 6: Leaving towards the Corrientes river to ride along hills, pastures, lakes, etc.  Enjoy a delicious BBQ on the banks of the river.  Return by boat  to Esquina, a picturesque fishing town close to ‘La  Rosita.'

Dinner in Esquinas, where you can enjoy the fresh catch-of-the-day, accompanied by live folk music from Corrientes. Accommodations at 'Hacienda La Rosita'.

For those not wishing to participate in the four-day ride, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy different activities at 'La Rosita':  join the local gauchos (cowboys) on their daily chores, milk the cows, canoe on the lakes, enjoy the pool, hike or mountain bike in the woods, take short 1/2-day or full day rides, go bird watching or fly-fishing!   Our flexible itineraries make this an ideal vacation experience for the whole family.

Program includes:

  • Lodging in cozy Spanish-style haciendas.  Except for La Amistad farm, all rooms have private baths

  • Four meals daily  (B/L/Tea/D) , with choice of top-rated Argentina wines and champagnes

  • All sightseeing, cultural activities and trail rides mentioned in program

  • First rate horses, with tack and and experienced local guides / hosts (horses and routes have been personally inspected by Quest Tours for safety, soundness, humane living conditions and emergency preparedness)
