Buddhist Tours
When embarking on a Tibetan Buddhist tour, the journey will first take you on a ferry ride across the Yarlung Tsanpo River. This river flows through southern Tibet, through the deepest canyon in the world and then snakes its way southward into India. After leaving the ferry you will enter the Samye Valley and make your way to the magnificent and historic Samye Monastery, the first Buddhist temple in Tibet. Samye dates back to the Eighth century and was built by the great tantric master, Guru Rinpoche. The rest of the time is spent in Lhasa visiting all the major temples, hopping and sipping tea in the buzz of the famous Barkhor Square. While in Lhasa you will visit local artisans, take day trips to drink yogurt with the nomads, and also enjoy a memorable visit to the Tibetan Traditional Medicine Hospital. There are ample opportunities to sit and practice with the monks at Mindroling Monastery, as well as visit local Tibetan families in the breath-taking surrounding village. Quest Tours will deliver you into this unique world of spiritual and historic beauty. The region is full of glorious architecture, culture, and philosophy that come together in a delicate balance that can be both simple and incredibly complex. Imagine being able to experience a beautiful historic Buddhist monastery with only a few others that share the same fascination for the world and culture as yourself. At Quest Tours, this intimate type of tour is our specialty. We have very knowledgeable, experienced guides that are close with the locals and can take you to remote, non-mainstream areas of the region. This allows you to connect closely with the locals and will make for an unforgettable experience.
